I'm a writer who dabbles in a little bit of everything: prose poetry, creative nonfiction, science communication. I've thrown it all in a hodgepodge mishmash here.

Getting Started

Hi, I'm Rachel, and this is my first blog post on my new site, Scribbles on Science. As the name suggests, most of my writing originates scribbled in my notebook while I'm commuting on the subway. The topics vary from daily musings to emerging infectious diseases to climate change to the occasional poem.

Although my day job is in data operations, I'm growing my career as a science writer by completing my master's degree in Science Writing through the Johns Hopkins University. This site will be a little bit of everything: personal experiences in nature, opinions on public policy and science, and general musings on the latest in science, technology, and medicine.
