With the House vote on the American Health Care Act (AHCA) looming, I've been working on a piece about what it's like to live with a pre-existing condition during this time, wondering if the protections of the Affordable Care Act are about to be stripped away.

Your Friend the Flu Shot

It's flu season again, and the yearly push for flu vaccines is well underway. Arguments for not getting vaccines range from the practical (cost, too much time) to the scientifically unsound (you'll get the flu from the vaccine) to the understandable but inaccurate (the flu shot won't protect me because it hasn't in the past) to familiar anti-vaccine sentiments (it's unnatural). But the flu is not just a simple cold, and your choice to get a flu shot can get other people sick.
